Summer-Part 4

Well, I'm finally getting my last summer photos up, and since I haven't been around much since I got back for the summer I have several photos that are from the last few weeks. I should be getting those up ASAP so look for them.

Spilled coffee inside the cabin, something I wasn't actually aloud to bring in (no food in the cabin this summer). But I accidentally kicked my cup while sitting on my bunk.

Ok this days sequence of photos was funny in retrospect but aggravating at the time. I set my cup of coffee on a janky card table we had under the kitchen tent. The table was not sitting on a level surface. So I bumped the table and my coffee spilled into the puzzle box. Well I moved the cup and began to wipe up the spill. But that shook the table again, causing another spill. You can see this began a vicious cycle. I repeated this 4 more times! Ahhh

Vineyard Happy Medium

I was reading the sign on the wall at church. They had a recipe posted behind the counter for "Vineyard Happy Medium Coffee" This kind of made me laugh, as I spilled the happy medium coffee while trying to fill my cup. I'm not that talented at white the carafes. My camera hasn't been charged in a few weeks because I left my charger at camp. I need to drive back out there and get it. So my friend had her new laptop out and I ran over and grabbed her mac book and used photo booth to take the picture, then emailed it to myself.



Coffee: I didn't ask, but I know the church uses Dunkin' Donuts coffee.
Ok I have this theory that Dunkin' Donuts coffee is the gateway drug of the coffee world. People who usually drink large can coffee but don't like good coffee, start out moving up by drinking Dunkin' Donuts. They walk around saying,"oh yeah, this is Dunkin' Donuts, its good coffee." And in my opinion its ok coffee, but it opens their world to coffee that doesn't taste like bittter water. Then they can start sampling single origins.

The Side Pour

Well, I'm not caught up an all the spills, yet they keep coming. So here are a fee more recent ones and I'll finish up the summer soon. This bag of coffee, when I bought opened it didn't open easily, so there are 3 holes in the packaging near the top. So, often when I pour the grounds into the coffee maker, some of them pour out the side through one of the holes... it's a delicate process really.

Coffee: House Blend, from Starbucks.  I'm sure everyone has had this coffee, I personally don't like it that much, but it's left over coffee from camp.

And this is from the beginning of my first break from camp. I spilled coffee on the floor of the Coffee Ethic, my fav coffee place in Springfield. There was actually a bunch more spills on this trip to the Ethic but my camera died. If I remember right, I was drinking the Sumatra, and it's always good...made on the Clover.

This post is way way after the fact, but a friend emailed me these photos we took before I left for the summer. I can't remember the story, chances are that I was just clumsy today. You can see the coffee on the table and my arm.

Early Morning Emergency

Saturday morning I couldn't sleep (it seemed like the birds outside my window were in a marathon screeching contest) so I ended up going to walmart at 6:30 in the morning. Well I got back home around 8:30 and I was starving and had no coffee yet. So I quickly whipped up one of my favorite breakfasts, two eggs fried on toast, and ground some coffee beans. As I was filling the coffee maker with water I realized that we had no filters. I had to get creative. Though I didn't resort to brewing coffee in a stock, I stuffed in a paper towel. I was waiting for the disaster, but it worked surprisingly well. The spill actually came when I was trying to poor the water in the coffee maker. I enjoyed my coffee and breakfast on our AstroTurf covered stoop, where I also dripped egg yolk on my shirt. This kind of grosses me out a little.

Business As Usual

There are a few types of spills I seem to make on a regular basis. Dripping down the side of the carafe while pouring a cup, and spilling water on the top of the coffee maker.

Coffee: Moocha Java (From Gavalia) Very good!
Props to the co-worker who brings this in!

Ok, I just thought the date was fun. Drove to St. Louis for the weekend with friends. We stopped in at my parents house and I spilled this while pouring everyone a cup.

Coffee: Folgers from a giant red can. I need not tell you if it was good.

Overflow

Today I poured too much water in the coffee maker, causing it to overflow. No one was paying attention.

Coffee: Combo of the remaining Kenya AA and Espresso Roast (from Starbucks). A surprisingly good blend.


Then I spilled while trying to pour the very full pot into my coworker's cup.

Yeah, I can't pour water into the coffee maker without it running down the side of the carafe and having it spill everywhere.

Kitchen Switch-up

This Friday mornings coffee was a disaster. This morning we switched kitchens from the usual morning coffee location, to the kitchen in a different building where I work. So I had to make coffee with a different coffee maker. I've used this one before, but I was out of practice. I forgot the inner holder, and just dropped the filter directly into the coffee maker, not good.

Then, after the chaos, I spilled coffe from my mug walking back from the Kitchen to my office. I guess that plastic they put in the hallways to cover the carpet, that everyone made fun of, served its purpose.
