A funny thing happened on the way...

I walked with a friend to church Sunday morning. It was beautiful! However whenever I try to do more things at the same time (i.e. walking, talking, drinking coffee) I can get uncoordinated.

Coffee: I want to say it was beans form Belize, but the Mudhouse website doesn't list that as something they sell? I guess I can't remember what kind I bought.

Early Morning Emergency

Saturday morning I couldn't sleep (it seemed like the birds outside my window were in a marathon screeching contest) so I ended up going to walmart at 6:30 in the morning. Well I got back home around 8:30 and I was starving and had no coffee yet. So I quickly whipped up one of my favorite breakfasts, two eggs fried on toast, and ground some coffee beans. As I was filling the coffee maker with water I realized that we had no filters. I had to get creative. Though I didn't resort to brewing coffee in a stock, I stuffed in a paper towel. I was waiting for the disaster, but it worked surprisingly well. The spill actually came when I was trying to poor the water in the coffee maker. I enjoyed my coffee and breakfast on our AstroTurf covered stoop, where I also dripped egg yolk on my shirt. This kind of grosses me out a little.

I need to buy coffee in smaller amounts.

Wenesday Lunch on the Square

Had lunch with a friend on the Square today with a friend. It was so nice out! We got a sandwiches and a coffee from the Mudhouse. Along with good coffee, they have awesome sandwiches. I spilled my coffee in the shop while I was trying to put the lid on, then I spilled it on the other sleeve while we we were sitting outside. You may recognized this jacket, it's been washed a lot. I also had to include a photo of the sky because it was so beautiful.

These last two photos were taken on Sunday at church. I didn't get the images up right away, so I just included them on today's post. I spilled coffee on shirt during the sermon.

Coffee: Bolivia, from the Mudhouse.
According to the Mudhouse, this is Fair Trade and Organic. Shade grown in the mountain of Bolivia this coffee is full bodied, aromatic and slightly spicy. I really enjoyed this coffee, it is less acidic that what I've been making in my office. Yet again, I like the shade grown variety.

Mr. Coffee- he's getting up there

Today I brewed coffee in my office in the morning and the afternoon (or what a few people I know call "caffternoon"). My coffee make is on the fritz. It leaks from the bottom and sometimes out the side. The bottom photo shows the soaked paper towel I stuffed under the make to prevent any further spillage. Looking at these photos reminds me that I really need to set the time on my Mr. Coffee, this really happened sometime around 3:00 pm.

Moving On: Spilling Other People's Coffee

This weekend I participated in the community cleanup day in Springfield with some members of my church. It was pretty fun and some hard work, we helped unload trucks full of trash from the west central neighborhood.

I met some pretty interesting neighbors today, and moved on to spilling other people's coffee. I met Jeff when I walked into his coffee cup. He was pretty nice about it, since there were refills available.

Coffee: Coffee from the QT.
He said it was pretty good, though I didn't try it.

This last photo is just a side note from a few days ago: it's really not a good idea to order coffee from an establishment that primarily sells alcohol.

Thursday Morning Question

Today I bought coffee from the Mudhouse. On the way back from the shop to my office, the coffee spilled onto the bag I was also carrying. Then later I spilled a bit onto my desk.
I'm ending this post with a question: does anyone have any recommendations for a new French press? I'm looking for one that is lightweight and indestructible. Something that makes really good coffee, but I can also take camping.

Coffee: Gailey's Blend from the Mudhouse.
Really good, but I love breakfast at Gailey's.

Drip Drops

Bought coffee in the student union today, from Kaldi's. I was there this morning to mail my taxes. Nothing like putting it off until the last minute. Actually, I've had them done for weeks, but I've been out of stamps. Then I placed them in the mail yesterday, but the letter carrier never picked them up. So I drove to the union today to drop my taxes off at the post office, but as I pulled up in the parking lot, I realized I hadn't placed the address labels on the envelope. So I drove back home to get the labels. Finally, back to the postoffice. Then on my way out I bought coffee.

I was in drinking the coffee in my office, when I accidentally set the cup down a bit to hard. Two tiny drip drops flew off. One landed on my keyboard and the other on my jeans.

Coffee: Birds and Bees blend from Kaldi's.
One of my favorites, it has a great medium flavor! The decription says that this blend is Latin American beans, using a shade grown meathod. By not cutting down the trees, the habitat of insects and song birds is protected. Sounds nice to me. I seem to really like shade grown coffees.

Time to Clean My Desk

I've been needing to clean off my desk for a while. It has clutter all over, but now I have even more incentive.

Coffee: Guatemalan, from Equal Exchange.
I purchased this from Mama Jeans.

This is my new-ish coffee mug. Hand made, beautiful and easy to hold. Its awesome!

The Coffee Break is Over!

Well I haven't posted in a really, really long time. So I don't know who will actually be reading this anymore but I've decided to dive in again. I've taken a long break for several reasons. The first is that I changed jobs. And, at my former place of employment we drank a lot of coffee. We drank it everyday together. It was great start to the day. At my current position this doesn't happen. Though I still drink coffee everyday, I don't drink with my coworkers, so I seem to be less likely to spill, since I'm not trying to talk and drink coffee at the same time.

Secondly I didn't have a camera anymore. I was using the camera from work, and when I changed jobs I needed to buy one. Well this is remedied! I now have a great little Sony, I can carry with me in my purse and capture every coffee stain. So stay in touch there will be many new spills and mishaps to come.

Here are the photos of the little accident I had today while working at home on some freelance work. My young press, given to me by one of my best girlfriends, fell off the coffee table and broke this afternoon. She intentionally got the plastic encased french press, for just this reason. Though it has held up well in the past, today the press met it's end.

Coffee: Guatemalan from Equal Exchange.
Super good, light flavor.

Here are a 2 pics taken a while back. This one I spilled on the counter at church.

This one I spilled while trying to refill at Cafe Berlin. One of the best breakfast places in Columbia, MO.
